A good book is always a good thing...

I read a book a couple of weeks ago called, " Just the Rules," Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. The woman herself is inspiring, shes in her 40's and looks fantastic!! I mean come on look at this picture! Regardless of whether your into body building or not, you got to admire that kind of workout ethic at her age.

It is a quick read for anyone that's interested in reading the book, but I thought I would summarize some of the tips that I got out of the book.

1. Eat slow!! People tend to eat their food so fast that their body can't digest your food properly. Try and remind yourself to chew your food 20/30 times each bite

2. Listen to your bodies natural ability to tell you when you are full and when you are hungry

3. Eat foods as close to their living source as possible Ex: Raw veggies

4. For every meal and snack pair  a lean protein and a complex carbohydrate Ex: Apple with a handful of almonds

1 serving of lean protein: palm of your hand
1 serving of complex carbohydrate: one cupped hand
1 serving of fruits/veggies: 2 cupped hands
5. Always always eat a good nutritious breakfast each day Ex: 1/2 cup of oatmeal (complex carbohydrate) and 2 eggs (lean protein)

6. Limit your treat to once a week. If you deprive yourself completely I think your much more likely to over-indulge way more often. So treat yourself once a week & enjoy it.

--> And one of my personal tips. WATER, WATER, WATER!!! So many people do not drink enough water and it is so important to be hydrated. If you have a hard time keeping track of how much you drink, buy yourself a water bottle and keep track of how many you drink a day. It's worth it, I promise!

It's up to us an an individual to take charge of our health and do it for us!! If you find yourself having a hard time being healthy take to heart what Tosca says in her book , " Be the person you were always meant to be."
