Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
We have it in our minds that eating right, working out, staying hydrated, etc.. are all things that are a burden that we have to carry. If we eat a cookie that goes over our sugar goals for the day or if we skip a workout we beat ourselves up with guilt. It can be this constant feeling of striving and never quit getting to where you want to be. I personally hate this and do not want to live this way. I don't want to take all the fun & enjoyment out of being healthy to where the very idea of it just makes me frustrated. I think setting goals for yourself is healthy & that being disciplined is a great quality, but I think we have to show ourselves grace in the fact that we are human. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
So when you make a goal & you don't quit make it, give yourself a little grace and say you know what.. I tried. I used to dread working out and view not being able to eat 4 cookies as a punishment. But I am starting to listen to my body and know that 1) 4 cookies would give me a headache and make my stomach feel gross and 2) I may dread the workout before, but at the end when I get through it.. I feel so so good..
Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
